A Journey Across America: 7 Days of Camping Bliss

Updated: Apr 19

Salt Lake City, Utah

Embarking from Salt Lake City, Utah, my faithful companion, my dog, and I set out on an epic adventure. The crisp morning air filled our lungs as we packed up the car and hit the road, eager for the journey ahead.

Day 1-2: Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Colorado

Our first destination: the awe-inspiring Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado. Camping beneath the star-studded sky, we felt small against the towering canyon walls. Hiking by day and stargazing by night, we marveled at nature's grandeur.

Day 3: Tranquil Lake in Kansas

Leaving Colorado behind, we ventured into the heart of Kansas, where we stumbled upon a serene lake hidden amidst rolling hills. Setting up camp by the water's edge, we spent the day fishing, swimming, and soaking in the peaceful ambiance.

Day 4: Majestic Ozark National Forest, Missouri

Continuing eastward, we found ourselves amidst the lush greenery of the Ozark National Forest in Missouri. Surrounded by towering trees and cascading waterfalls, we explored winding trails and discovered hidden gems at every turn.

Day 5-6: Great Smoky Mountains, Tennessee

Arriving at the Great Smoky Mountains, we were greeted by the rumble of thunder and flashes of lightning. Despite the stormy weather, we found refuge in the cozy confines of our tent, listening to the symphony of nature outside. Though my dog was trembling he spent most the night sleeping in the car where he felt safer.

Day 7: Tranquility at Chimney Rock, Virginia

As the storm subsided, we made our way to Chimney Rock in Virginia, where we were met with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Basking in the tranquility of our surroundings, we reflected on the incredible journey thus far.

Final Stretch to New Jersey

With New Jersey in our sights, we bid farewell to the campgrounds and fellow travelers who had become like family along the way. Though the journey was coming to an end, the memories we made would last a lifetime.

Reflecting on our 7-day camping adventure from Salt Lake City to New Jersey, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the incredible experiences and newfound friendships forged along the way. As we returned home, we carried with us the spirit of adventure and the promise of future expeditions yet to come.
